Throughout December 2013, Mama Hoglet took her festive shadow puppet class out to Children's Centres across York.

Classes began with a beautiful shadow puppet performance of Hans Christian Anderson's beautiful tale The Little Matchstick Girl. After that everyone got stuck in making their own shadow puppets, and having a go at making them come to life in Hoglets mini theatre - with Mama Hoglet there to talk everyone through it.It was wonderful seeing how the whole room - from the little babies, the toddlers and big people with them - were so enthralled by the strong shapes, colours and sounds of the shadow puppets - and everyone loved the craft and games.Shadow puppets is just one of many fun drama techniques we use in our classes - upcoming classes in 2014 will cover masks, voices, movement, song, writing your own stories and lots more.
